How come some of the .gifs I save on my computer stop working over time? They will either just turn into a still pic, or will work for about a second and then stop.

You can make your gif repeat itself a set number of times, after which it's gonna stop 
Do you have an example of such a gif ????

Probably because the creator of the .GIF didn't loop the animation. Easy to fix in a program like Animation Shop.
